Mäku anö e hanga töku nei whare. Ko ngä poupou he mähoe, he patätë. Ko te tähuhu he hïnau.

Our mission statement takes into consideration Tainui's commitment to Rangatiratanga, Tainui's role as Kaitiaki of the Kïngitanga and Tainui's commitment to people as their major resource.

Te Wharekura o Räkaumanga is a state, co-educational composite school.
All subjects are taught totally in Mäori with the exception of English, which is introduced as a subject at Year 4. Rakaumanga is made up of three branches, Kura Teina, catering for Year 1 to 6 students, Kura Waenga, catering for Year 7 to 10 and Kura Tuakana, catering for Year 11 to 13 students.

Our catchment area is philosophically based rather than geographically based. This allows us to cater for the educational needs of students not only from the local area but also students who wish to be taught through Kaupapa Mäori education from other areas of Aotearoa. In particular, from communities who have Kura Kaupapa Mäori Primary schools with no Te Wharekura in close proximity for their students to graduate to.
Our Runanga (Board of Trustees) comprises of parents and caregivers that are committed to ensuring that all students are provided with an education which respects their Tino Rangatiratanga and challenges them to reach their personal standards of excellence. The Runanga also acknowledges the continual support of parents and caregivers to the Kaupapa and encourages any input they may have to assist in the education of our children

Active involvement by the community within the Kura and its programmes is an integral part of our endeavour to deliver positive outcomes for students.
